About Me/My Approach

I believe that seeking psychotherapy is healthy and proactive, and that we could all benefit from therapy or counseling at different points in our lives. My mission is to help individuals, partners, and families lead more fulfilling lives, have better marriages, and to help parents raise healthy children.

I feel that a good therapeutic relationship is critical to successful therapy and I aim to really understand my clients and develop collaborative relationships. My therapeutic style is warm and empathic, but direct and active as well. My theoretical orientation is client-centered and strengths-based, with emphasis on holistic healing and spirituality. I incorporate therapeutic techniques that would be most effective for each client, including cognitive-behavioral, rational-emotive, psychodynamic, and yogic interventions. Overall, I help my clients achieve higher self-regard, overall wellness and balance, and increased happiness, personally and professionally. I very much enjoy the work that I do and find it to be extremely rewarding.

It is important that our work together be based on mutual respect and an atmosphere of trust. I adhere to a personal and professional code of ethics ( National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics). In summary,

  • I will protect your privacy as outlined in Notice of Privacy Practices.
  • I will maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • I will tell you if I believe I am not the best person to help you.
  • I will keep up to date with best practice methods and standards through continuing education and consultation.
  • I will welcome your feedback about any subject regarding our work together.
  • I will help you to set goals and to recognize when you have met them.
